Wanderlei Silva Looking To Compete For Six More Years

MMA legend Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva has, between his tenre in PRIDE and the UFC alone, provided some of the most entertaining fights and memorable moments in MMA history. At 2-5 in his last seven, many believe that Silva’s best days are behind him and that retirement looms for the Brazilian brawler. “The Axe Murderer” doesn’t see it that way, as he recently declared on his Twitter account a desire to remain active in the sport until his fortieth birthday.

“I love my job figth is my life ;34now alot time i think about wath gona happen after i no figth more and want cry,” Silva wrote. “I want figth to my 40 6 more years 12 more figths 2for year you want see in live just 12 more shows guys ahahahah thanks my guys.”

Silva recently made a drop to the middleweight division and had a successful debut against Michael “The Count” Bisping back at UFC 110 in February. Currently rehabbing a knee injury that required surgery, Silva has no shortage of possible opponents for his comeback fight. Chris Leben and Alan Belcher have both expressed interest in taking on Silva because he is a legend whom they both respect and would like to prove themselves against. Michael Bisping is chomping at the bit for a rematch with Silva since he feels he won their first meeting and “The Axe Murderer” has had tense encounters with both Chael Sonnen and Vitor Belfort that could eventually lead to a grudge match.
