Josh Koscheck and Georges St-Pierre will not meet until December 11th at UFC 124, but the betting gods have already pegged GSP as a big favorite. They are not alone, as newly crowned UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, who trains with Koscheck at American Kickboxing Academy, hinted that St-Pierre could be leaving the Bell Centre with his title in tow.
“[St-Pierre] one of the best out there. His style of fighting is strong and I think he is going to be the champion for a long time,” Velasquez told the hosts of CP24 Breakfast. “But guys are always coming after him.”
The two met once before when St-Pierre defeated Koscheck by unanimous decision at UFC 74 in August of 2007.
Koscheck (17-4) has won four out of his last five fights, including a streak of three in a row. The 32-year-old has proven his versatility with KO wins over Yoshiyuki Yoshida, Frank Trigg, Chris Sanford and Dustin Hazelett and dominating submission victories against Anthony Johnson, Pete Spratt, Ansar Chalangov and Jonathan Goulet.
UFC 124: St-Pierre vs. Koscheck takes place on Saturday, December 11 from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
