Two weeks after Roger Huerta suffered his fourth loss in his last five fights, Huerta’s manager Jeff Clark revealed that the Sports Illustrated cover boy suffered broken orbital bones in his recent bout with Eddie Alvarez.
“He’s a little beaten up but how long he stays out really depends on the breaks,” Clark told MMAFighting.com. “The doctors are looking at it.”
Huerta faced Alvarez on October 21st at Bellator 33 in Philadelphia. Huerta was punished early, and took two debilitating leg kicks within the first 30 seconds of the fight. A third would send Huerta back-tracking in visible pain. Huerta continued to battle until the conclusion of the second round. The bout was stopped between the second and third rounds when Huerta was unable to coherently respond to doctor’s questions.
Roger Huerta’s future in MMA is unclear at this time. After being cut by the UFC last September, he has gone 0-2 in the Bellator organization while going 1-4 overall in his last five fights.
