Celebrity news/gossip source TMZ recently contacted UFC President Dana White to ask about the implications of the UFC 121 post-fight confrontation between World Wrestling Entertainment performer Mark Calaway (The Undertaker) and former UFC Heavyweight Champion (and a former pro-wrestler himself) Brock Lesnar.
A video widely circulated the internet (link) following Saturday night’s UFC 121 event (where Lesnar lost his title to Cain Velasquez via first round thrashing) that depicted “The Undertaker” breaking from his interview with MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani to ask a dejected Lesnar, on his way to the locker room from the cage, if he “wanted to do it?” Lesnar responded by pausing briefly and continuing on his march to get his face stitched. Much has been made of the odd interaction, with some even saying it was a stunt in early promotion of a Lesnar-Undertaker WWE match.
Post-fight, White seemed a bit bewildered when told of the confrontation by Helwani and said that if the two were going back and forth it’s because they are friends. White further quashed the rumor in speaking with TMZ, as he informed them that Lesnar will not be competing in the WWe anytime soon — or at least not while he’s still under contract with the UFC.
“Brock Lesnar is still under contract with the UFC… he is not going to wrestle in the WWE,” White said. “He cannot wrestle, box or fight anywhere else.”
Lesnar lost his heavyweight title to Velasquez via first round TKO Saturday night at UFC 121 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
