MMAMania.com has learned that Chute Boxe-trained fighter Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira will officially be facing off with former IFL Light Heavyweight Champion and MMA veteran Vladimir Matyushenko this November at UFC 122.
Ferreira, whose nickname means “The Rhino” in Portuguese, tops out at just 5’7″ as a light heavyweight fighter; a perceived deficit he makes up for with solid power and a highly-touted ground game. The stocky Brazilian product holds an overall professional record of 18-6 and he is currently on a seven-fight winning streak. His six losses have come by way of submission (three), decision (one), TKO (one), and disqualification. He has earned seventeen of his eighteen wins by submission and has finished his last seven opponents via submission in the first round.
Matyushenko is a Belrusian MMA veteran with only five losses in close to thirty professional MMA bouts. “The Janitor” is well-respected within the sport and recently earned a chance at stalling 205-pound dynamo Jon Jones’ locomotive-powered rise by defeating Igor Pokrajac and Eliot Marshall under the UFC banner. Jones would not be stopped however, and handed his senior a first round TKO loss. Matyushenko will be looking to rebound from that loss and second stint in the UFC a successful one.
UFC 122 is scheduled to take place this November 13 at the Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany and will feature a modified main event between middleweight contender Nate Marquardt and Yushin Okami (Marquardt stepped in for Vitor Belfort who was called up to face champion Anderson Silva in light of original number one contender Chael Sonnen’s recent positive steroids test).
