Brock Lesnar Responds To Chael Sonnen’s Criticism: “Who?”

It is a testament to the impact of UFC middleweight contender Chael Sonnen’s infamous blazing tirades that, after a at least a month-long silence (due to a positive steroid test following his UFC 117 fight with Anderson Silva), his quotes are still reverberating and affecting the MMA world.

During a recent appearance on the Jim Rome show, UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar was asked about comments that Sonnen made some time ago during a fan Q&A that were grossly disparaging towards Lesnar; Sonnen, a middleweight, went as far as declaring that he would basically slap Lesnar in the face and that the Goliath-sized champion would do nothing.

In response, an earnest Lesnar revealed to Rome that he actually had no idea who Sonnen was; issuing perhaps the sharpest insult of all to Sonnen’s attention-grabbing routine.

“I don’t know who he is,” Lesnar said.

After looking at a video of Sonnen’s taunts, Lesnar asked, “Is he a fighter? I don’t know who he is. I’m serious.”

Perhaps it is because the champ is a self-admittedly private man who mostly avoids the MMA news cycle or because he is currently focused on his UFC 121 title fight with Cain Velasquez this weekend, but the outspoken Chael Sonnen just isn’t currently registering on the champ’s radar.
