MMAJunkie.com is reporting that a match up between top light heavyweight contenders Ryan Bader and Jon Jones is still being targeted for UFC 126, despite comments made by UFC President Dana White on Friday at a Q&A session for the UK UFC Fan Expo indicating otherwise.
“The Ryan Bader fight is well underway,” Jones told nervous fans after he met with UFC match maker Joe Silva to confirm that the bout is still on.
Jones admitted that he has not yet signed on the dotted line, but that he has full intentions of doing so and that he believes his opponent has already signed off on the bout.
“I think [Bader] signed his contract,” Jones said. “I’ve been really busy, so I haven’t gotten a chance to sign my contract yet, but I think that fight will be set for Feb. 5. I’m really excited about this opportunity.”
Jones is excited for the bout as it provides him with an opportunity to further climb the light heavyweight rankings and prove his skills against a high caliber opponent; skills he works diligently to perfect.
“I train really hard, I study a lot and martial arts has become my life,” Jones said. “When you train really hard and you give it all you got, you have no reason not to be confident. I have lots of confidence, I believe in myself … and I think I’m ready to compete against some of these top guys.”
UFC 126 is expected to go down this February 5th at an as-yet-unannounced venue in Las Vegas, Nevada.
