MMAJunkie.com is reporting that a match up between rising UFC heavyweights Stefan Struve and Sean McCorkle is currently in the works for the upcoming UFC 124 card, to go down this December. At this point, verbal agreements for the bout have been made and the paperwork is expected to be signed shortly.
6’11” Dutch striker Stefan “Skyscraper” Struve holds an overall professional MMA record of 20-4 and is a veteran of six UFC appearances. His UFC record is 4-2 and his most recent appearance was against Christian Morecraft and came at UFC 117; Struve walked away from that fight the victor, scoring a second round knockout over Morecraft. That win bounced Struve back from a March TKO loss to The Ultimate Fighter 10 winner Roy “Big Country” Nelson. Struve’s only other promotional loss came against top heavyweight Junior dos Santos back at UFC 95.
At 10-0 as a pro with most of his fights coming on the local Indiana fight circuit, Sean “Big Sexy” McCorkle was better known as a member of The Underground mixed martial arts forum than he was as a fighter. That all changed when McCorkle made his UFC debut, late last month at UFC 119. McCorkle proved his doubters wrong when he defeated MMA and kickboxing veteran Mark Hunt via joint-popping first round kimura. Hunt marks McCorkle’s biggest win to date and the Indiana-stationed fighter will be looking to add another impressive name to his resume with Struve.
UFC 124 is expected to go down this December 11th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and will feature a welterweight title fight between champion Georges St. Pierre and challenger Josh Koscheck.
