MMAJunkie.com is reporting that a featherweight bout between Mackens Semerzier and Cub Swanson has been added to the WEC 52: Faber vs. Mizugaki fight card.
Semerzier is 5-2 as a professional and his most notable performance to date was a shocking triangle choke submission win over Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace Wagnney Fabiano in his WEC debut at WEC 43: Cerrone vs. Henderson in October of 2009. Since that win, Semerzier has gone 0-2 in the WEC; posting losses to Deividas Taurosevicius (unanimous decision) and Javier Vasquez (rear naked choke). The Virginia Beach-based fighter is a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Pedro Sauer and is a former United States Marine.
Cub Swanson holds a 14-4 record overall and is 4-3 in the WEC. He has posted victories over Tommy Lee, Micah Miller, Hiroyuki Takaya, and John Franchi; and losses to Jens Pulver, Jose Aldo, and most recently, Chad Mendes during his time with the promotion. Swanson was born in and trains out of Palm Springs, California. He currently divides his training time between OC Muay Thai and Erik Paulson’s Combat Submission Wrestling.
WEC 52 takes place this November 11th at The Pearl at The Palms casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card will feature Urijah Faber’s debut at bantamweight against Takeya Mizugaki.
