Former WWE superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made an appearance at UFC 119 this past weekend in promotion of a new movie and took a moment to speak with MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani. “The Rock” revealed that, as a younger man, he would have actually pursued a career in MMA as opposed to the football/wrestling career path which he chose were MMA enjoying the kind of popularity then as it is now.
“Oh man, there’s no question about it,” said “The Rock” when asked if he would have considered a career in MMA. “I love this sport and I’ve thought about competing; competing in the Octagon is something that I would’ve loved to have done but I went another route. I’m too handsome, I had to go to Hollywood!”
“The Rock,” who can often be seen at UFC events schmoozing with UFC president Dana White, then gave props to the UFC in general and expressed the depth of his MMA fandom.
“I’m just such a big fan. I’m a big fan of all the fighters and certainly the company,” he said. “Always good to come out, see the boys compete, see Dana, see the fans; always a good time.”
UFC 119: Mir Vs. Cro Cop took place last night at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana and featured a main event between former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir and PRIDE legend Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic.
