Jeremy Stephens enters the ring amped up, Guillard does the same to the strains of The White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army. It seems impossible for this bout to be slow-paced or boring. Josh Rosenthal is the third man in the cage.
Round 1: They neglect to touch gloves. Guillard throws a big overhand right and Stephens clocks him with a counter that sits him down. Guillard back to his feet. Guillard doing his best to push forward with big shots but Stephens is countering and landing the more solid shots. Guillard light on his feet, looking for a home for his right straight. Guillard lands with a solid right hand from outside of the pocket. The pace is fairly measured, and Guillard seems to be finding his distance and timing, making Stephens chase him down. Guillard lands a low blow but Stephens shakes it off; they touch gloves and keep at it. Guillard is hanging his hands low and moving in quickly from the outside, getting back out just as fast.

Round 2: Stephens opens with a solid leg kick. Guillard lands with a nice jab and follow up one-two. Guillard with a left body kick. Guillard backs Stephens to the cage and “Lil’ Heathen” clinches, but they break almost immediately. Another low blow from Guillard, Stephens takes longer to recover this time. Guillard touches his glove. Stephens lands a right leg kick solid. Guillard with a body kick, Stephens whiffs on a few more big punches. This time it’s Stephens with a low blow that drops Guillard immediately. They reset and touch gloves. Guillard with a nice right ver the to that barely misses. Guillard is landing and making Stephens miss but this isn’t the barnburner most expected. Stephens landing leg kicks repeatedly.

Round 3: They touch gloves to start the last round and continue on seamlessly as before. Stephens landing nice kicks but Guillard remaining hard to hit. The crowd starts in with the boos. Stephens tries for a takedown and Guillard brushes him off. Both men pecking away from the outside, Guillard with punches and Stephens with kicks. Guillard with a nice body kick. The crowd is displeased with the lack of significant action and they let the fighters know it. Stephens lands a huge left hand that backs Guillard to the fence but Guillard recovers before Stephens can capitalize. Stephens backing Guillard down. Guillard with a jumping right kick that lands to the body.
