Countdown to UFC 119 aired earlier this week. For those of you who missed it, you can watch it below at the end of this post.
UFC 119 pits former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir against 2006 PRIDE Open Weight Grand Prix winner Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic in a heavyweight contest that will go a long way in determining either man’s future in the heavyweight division. The two main eventers are the main focus of the Countdown to UFC 119 special. Mir and “Cro Cop” were both considered at one time to be among the world’s best heavyweights but after a recent slip by Mir to Shane Carwin and a career slump for “Cro Cop” some are questioning how much more the two men have to offer; this fight will bring one man closer to redemption and send one further down the road toward retirement.
“Cro Cop” and Mir are not the only focus of the countdown show however, as co-main event fighters Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Ryan Bader are also profiled. The two light heavyweights will be fighting for a chance to move further up the 205lb. ladder. MMA veteran Nogueira is undefeated in the UFC, following up an impressive knockout win over Luis Cane with a controversial split-decision win over Jason Brilz. Bader is undefeated in eleven professional mixed martial arts contests and owns a four-fight UFC win streak that he most recently capped off with a knockout win over Keith Jardine.
