After rumors surfaced last week that Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic had injured his eye and his UFC 119 bout with Frank Mir was in jeopardy, UFC president Dana White took to his Twitter to refute the rumors, assuring fans that “Cro Cop” would be fighting this weekend at full capacity.
The rumors were persistent however, stemming from Croatian news sources, and were eventually confirmed by Filipovic himself; however he pledged to fight on regardless of his condition. The 2006 PRIDE Open Weight Grand Prix winner has been initially cleared to fight this weekend by the Indiana State Athletic Commission and his last obstacle will be clearance of the standard pre-fight check up and screenings. White again took to his Twitter recently in order to send out a solid, “I told you so” and to reconfirm that Filipovic will be still be appearing in the UFC 119 main event.
“How many times do I have to tell u guys not to listen to internet BS? Cro Cop is 100% and fighting on sat.,” White tweeted.
UFC 119 will go down this Saturday at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana and will feature a heavyweight bout between “Cro Cop” and former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir as well as a light heavyweight tilt between PRIDE veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogeuira and undefeated prospect Ryan Bader.
