According to MMAFighting.com, The Ultimate Fighter season 8 winner Efrain Escudero has been released from his UFC contract following a third round submission loss to Charles Oliveira. The two squared off at last week’s Ultimate Fight Night 22 event held in Austin, Texas and it was the 20-year Brazilian Oliveira who found a way to win, submitting an overweight Escudero in the last stanza of their catchweight (159lbs.) bout.
Escudero posted a statement regarding his release on his Twitter account today.
“Hello true fan I was released by the Ufc today speaking to strikeforce and bellator,” Escudero wrote. “Taking a week off and make my way back!!!!!”
The Arizona-based fighter holds an overall record of 13-2 and his UFC career record is 3-2, with his wins coming over Phillipe Nover, Cole Miller, and Dan Lauzon and his losses coming against Evan Dunham and Oliveira.
