Charles Oliveira Promises To Improve, Give His Best Every Outing

Fast-rising UFC lightweight fighter Charles “do Bronx” Oliveira earned his second UFC win, both victories by way of submission, last night at Ultimate Fight Night 22 over The Ultimate Fighter season 9 winner Efrain Escudero. The twenty-year old Oliveira submitted the overweight (159lbs.) Escudero in the third round via rear naked choke to win the Submission of the Night bonus. The undefeated Brazilian fighter spoke about the win on, and promised only to improve from here.

“Go Team Bronx! We are a complete school. I wanted to show that not only do I have jiu-jitsu, but I have strikes too because I fight stand-up (against Escudero). I know I made a lot of mistakes in the stand-up, but I do my best to keep it going, I’m training hard and getting better. I want to fight with the best fighters. All my fights, I give my life, I give my heart, it doesn’t matter who I fight.”

Oliveira, a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, survived a point-blank groin shot to come back and submit Escudero to also earn his second Submission of the Night bonus. At only twenty-years old and holding an undefeated record over fourteen fights, the sky seems to be the limit for “do Bronx.”
