TUF 12 Conference Call Notes

For those of you that watched Chael Sonnen’s Poetry Hour yesterday, you likely missed out on the unforgettable The Ultimate Fighter 12 conference call featuring Georges St-Pierre and Josh Koscheck. No worries, because we’ve got you covered with some of the highlights from Tuesday’s media call.

The welterweights will be opposing coaches on this season of the popular reality show, which will culminate in their title bout at UFC 124 in GSP’s hometown of Montreal.

Kos talks about having to fight in GSP’s backyard, then St-Pierre calls Koscheck a liar:

Koscheck: I’m not the same fighter as I was back in 2007 when I fought St-Pierre the first time. I truly believe that I’m the type of fighter that loves to have adversity. I’m the type of fighter that can deal with it and I love the fact that I get to go into Montreal and beat up Georges in his hometown. All the pressure’s on him. He’s the champion, he’s fighting in front of his fans and his family. They’re going to be cheering ‘G-S-P’ the entire time so there’s no pressure on me.

St-Pierre: He just said two lies, the first lie was that he was happy to fight in Montreal. That’s not true, he’s not happy at all. The second lie is that I’m a fake person and you’re going to see on TUF 12 that it’s not true at all. I never derailed from the person that I believe I am and for what I stand for.

Then things get a little more heated as Koscheck and St-Pierre talk about their upcoming rematch:

Koscheck: Since GSP got knocked out by little Matt Serra, he’s become this guy who’s afraid to go out there and fight. He’s hired Freddie Roach as a boxing coach, and to be honest with you Georges, I think you’re wasting your money and wasting your time because you know you’re not going to come out there and stand up with me. I’m gonna have to force you to stand up because the minute I tag you, you’re gonna go in and you’re gonna shoot.

St-Pierre: For Koscheck, he said a third lie. He said he’s going to try to keep the fight standing up, which is a lie because I’m sure he’s going to try to put me down.

Koscheck: So I’m just a big liar today guys, sorry. Everything I say is a lie huh, Georges? Am I right?

St-Pierre: No problem. It’s part of the mind games, don’t worry. I’ll be ready for you, man. I’m gonna keep my wrestling sharp. Don’t worry.
