Nate Marquardt vs. Rousimar Palhares
Round 1: Palhares and Marquardt circled each other for the opening moments of the round with neither fighter doing much damage. Finally Palhares charged in and landed a nice uppercut. They continued to circle each other and the crowd started to boo. Marquardt pushes forward and threw a couple of punches. Palhares went for a single but Marquardt sprawled and tried to wrap Palhares in a traingle. Palhares broke free and went for a heel hook. He lost it and pointed at Marquardt’s leg insinuating he was greased, and Marquardt immediately capitalized and nailed Palhares with a big right and followed up with several big shots and the referee stopped the fight. After the fight Palhares walked up to Marquardt and tapped Marquardt’s leg, implying that he had greased.
Nate Marquardt defeated Rousimar Palhares via TKO (strikes) at 3:28 of Round 1.
After the fight it was noted that Marquardt’s leg was checked and he wasn’t greased. Marquardt noted that he came in warm so he can get sweaty to slip out of submissions easier.
