FiveOuncesofPain.com is reporting that Strikeforce continues its crusade to pick up talented fighters this week by signing promising lightweight/welterweight scrapper Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal to a multi-fight deal. Masvidal spoke with BuddhaSport.com about the deal and said that he is looking to go right to the top, right away.
“Let the world know I am going to knock out everybody they put in front of me,” said Masvidal. “I don’t have an opponent yet but I want a big fight; you know. I want (Gilbert) Melendez or the next big name. No B level fighters. (Lyle) Beerbohm is good but nobody really knows him. I would like to get (Tatsuya) Kawajiri, that would be great,” said Masvidal when speaking on his future in the promotion.”
Masvidal is 20-6 as a pro and holds notable wins over Roli Delgado, Yves Edwards, Joe Lauzon and Naoyuki Kotani. “Gamebred” most recently appeared in action at Shark Fights 13: Jardine vs. Prangley this past weekend where he moved up in weight to take on British knockout artist Paul “Semtex” Daley. Masvidal was unable to put “Semtex” away or go home with the victory but the natural lightweight turned some heads with his ability to withstand Daley’s attack and win at least one round, keeping the fight close the entire time.
