Light heavyweight wonder boy Jon “Bones” Jones has seen his star rise steadily over the past year. Having earned impressive wins over the likes of Stephan Bonnar, Jake O’Brien, Brandon Vera and Vladimir Matyushenko (just to name a few) during his UFC tenure, many are hailing Jones as the next-big-thing at 205lbs. and in MMA in general. According to Fighters Only magazine, legendary fight equipment and apparel company Everlast agrees with those assessments and has decided to sponsor Jones as a result.
“Bones,” who will be training exclusively with Everlast gear and will be featured prominently in the company’s promotional material, said that he is honored and excited to have been chosen by Everlast.
“I couldn’t be more excited to join the Everlast family” said Jones “Everlast has a rich history associated with the greatest fighters of all time and I am proud to be a part of that tradition, alongside icons like Randy Couture, Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson.”
Matt Cowan, Vice President of Marketing and Products for Everlast, also commented on Jones’ sponsorship and said that choosing Jones was easy as the Greg Jackson-trained fighter clearly represents what Everlast stands for.
“Jon Jones is one of the most exciting athletes in MMA today,” said Cowan. “His drive and dedication embodies the value upon which our brand was built and his eagerness to join the Everlast legacy further solidifies our position as the dominant brand in the sport.”
According to Fighters Only, Jones will be appearing as a representative at the Everlast booth at the upcoming UFC Fan Expo which will be taking place August 28th at the John B. Hynes Convention Center in Boston and will run in conjunction with the upcoming UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn II fight.
