MMAWeekly.com is reporting that UFC middleweights Alessio Sakara and Jorge Rivera, who were both forced off of this weekend’s UFC 118 preliminary card, will still meet in the cage; now, at UFC 122.
Italian boxer Alessio Sakara has toyed with UFC success since 2005, posting a 6-4-0, 1 NC in the promotion. Though his early start was back-and-forth, Sakara is currently on a three-fight win streak with victories over Joe Vedepo, Thales Leites and James Irvin. “Legionarius” last appeared in action at UFC on Versus: Vera vs. Jones this past March where he knocked out James Irvin in the first round.
Jorge Rivera, a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 4: The Comeback , has similarly skirted success in the UFC having posted a 6-3 overall promotional record. Also in similar fashion, Rivera is riding a three-fight win streak, marked by victories over Nissen Osterneck, Rob Kimmons, and Nate Quarry. Rivera last saw the inside of the cage against Quarry at UFC Fight Night: Florian vs. Gomi where he defeated “The Rock” via second round TKO (punches).
UFC 122 is currently unofficial but is expected to take place this November 13th at the Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany. Matches between welterweights Amir Sadollah and Peter Sobotta and light heavyweights Krzysztof Soszynski and Goran Reljic are also expected for the card.
