Current number one welterweight contender Josh Koscheck started taunting UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre almost immediately after it was announced that they would square off after serving as opposing coaches on the twelfth season of The Ultimate Fighter. Now that taping has wrapped up and Koscheck isn’t seeing St. Pierre on a daily basis (where it can be assured he issued his fair share of verbal jabs that will no doubt be on display soon in the promotion for “TUF 12″) Koscheck has taken to Twitter to get his licks in.
Koscheck recently posted to St. Pierre’s account, “@Georgesstpierre Hi Frenchy, I am sure ur missing me??? Hope u are working on that stand up?? see you in DEC! Xoxo ur daddy KOS.”
St. Pierre has not been baited into a trash talking exchange yet in his 22-fight professional MMA career so it is unlikely Koscheck will get much, if any, of a rise out of “Rush.” What Koscheck’s trash talk will do is attract viewers and, if we are to learn anything from Chael Sonnen, turn him into a polarizing figure (more than he already is) bordering on a heel personality.
Koscheck and St. Pierre are rumored to be fighting this December 11th at the officially unannounced UFC 124 card. The two fighters have met in the cage once before at UFC 74 where “Rush” defeated Koscheck via unanimous decision and surprised many in the process by out-wrestling Koscheck, a former NCAA Division-1 wrestler. Koscheck will be looking for revenge when they meet this December and St. Pierre will be looking to further cement his legacy as the best welterweight and possibly the best fighter ever.
