WEC bantamweight fighter Scott Jorgensen just engaged in a grueling three round war with the dangerous Brad Pickett on Wednesday night’s WEC 50 card but is already looking forward to his next matchup. Jorgensen, who defeated Pickett via unanimous decision, is hoping that the impressive win will net him the next shot at WEC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz’s belt.
“It’s exciting for me to hopefully get that title shot against Dominick and take the belt from him,” said Jorgensen at the WEC 50 post-fight press conference (props to MMAWeekly).
As for how he believes he will fare against Cruz, who successfully defended his bantamweight belt for the first time also at WEC 50, Jorgensen unsurprisingly told media that he believes he has all the tools to defeat the champ.
“I obviously think I’m a better striker than Dominick,” he said. “He just moves at a great rate and creates different angles. My wrestling is better than his. If I want to take someone down I will. I’ll find a way. If he wants to stop it, I have other tricks in my bag.”
Jorgensen made a promise that, should he be awarded the chance to take on Cruz, he will undoubtedly bring home the belt.
“I feel I’m stronger in every area,” said Jorgensen. “I’ll bring that belt back.”
