It’s all about “having fun and getting paid” when it comes to Strikeforce light heavyweight champ Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal. If he’s stacking chips, then he’s happy. The most effective way for him to fatten his wallet, is to fight. So I guess by default, King Mo must love his job.
Fresh off his dominating performance over Gegard Mousasi at “Strikeforce: Nashville” to capture the belt, the former All-American wrestler claims he’s hungrier than ever despite sitting atop the 205-pound mountain. He breaks-in his newly minted crown against a very talented Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante tonight in Houston, Texas.
“I’m the sniper still,” Lawal told MMAWeekly.com of making his first title defense against such a dangerous opponent. “I know how I got there. I know who I want and Feijao made perfect sense. The thing is, I don’t care who it is. I’m sniping everybody. I’ve got everybody in my crosshairs.”
Feijao put Antwain Britt to sleep in the 1stRound of their “Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery” contest in May. In addition to his diversified arsenal, the Brazilian has been preparing for the biggest scrap of his career with the help of his Team Black House friends.
“I know who he’s training with, I know everything about Feijao. I know more about Feijao than he knows about himself. Just like Mousasi, I study everybody,” Lawal said prior to boasting over the studs he’s worked with at Mark Munoz’s Reign Training Center. “I get humbled every day in training. I make sure to train with the best. I make sure I have people that are better than me in every aspect.”
