In a recent interview with FightHub.com, boxing promoter and former prez of the now-defunct Elite XC promotion Gary Shaw revealed that he may have plans to promote former employee Kimbo Slice in a boxing match
“I am really busy in boxing, I have a lot of really big fights so what I might do is crossover to MMA, pluck a couple of their fighters and put them in a boxing ring,” said Shaw of his future plans.
FightHub questioned Shaw if he was referring to former Elite XC and UFC fighter Kimbo Slice and Shaw hinted that he was talking about Slice.
“You said it, I didn’t,” said Shaw. “look for some big news coming up pretty soon. There’s some real good fighters with real good hands. If I could get the right guy that I believed in like I still believe in Kimbo, I would cross them over.”
Slice fought four times for Elite XC, defeating Bo Cantrell, Tank Abbott and James Thompson before getting knocked out by Seth Petruzelli. He would go on to appear on the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter where he would lose to Roy Nelson early on. Slice would fight again in the Octagon, however, and racked up a 1-1 record in the promotion with a win over Houston Alexander and a loss to TUF castmate Matt Mitrione that would get him fired from the UFC.
