Scott Jorgensen vs. Brad Pickett
Round 1: Pickett nailed Jorgensen with a straight right that knocked Jorgensen down, but he quickly got back to his feet. Both men clinched against the cage, and ended up back in the center of the cage. Pickett landed a couple more big shots and pressed Jorgensen against the cage. Jorgensen broke free and Pickett kept coming in with punches. Jorgensen took Pickett down, but Pickett was quickly back up to his feet. Jorgensen nailed Pickett with a shot that knocked Pickett’s mouthpiece out. Pickett grabbed the mouthpiece and put it back in and was back in the fight. Both men traded punches and Jorgensen took Pickett to the mat. Pickett managed to lock in a guillotine, but Jorgensen was able to defend and get into side control. Jorgensen dropped some elbows to the head and Pickett was able to get back to his feet. Both fighters traded punches and Pickett landed a flying knee. Both fighters went on to trade blows as the round came to an end. Great round. FightLine.com scores the round 10-9 for Pickett.
Round 2: Pickett landed some solid punches to the jaw early on. Pickett landed a straight left and Jorgensen landed a nice uppercut. Pickett continued to get the better of the stand up. Both guys traded hard shots and Pickett landed a hard right. Pickett’s mouthpiece was out again, and this time the fight was paused so he can put it back in. Jorgensen went for a takedown, which was stuffed. Pickett landed an unintentional low blow, and Jorgensen was given a few moments to recover. Both men continued to swing away until Jorgensen took Pickett down in Pickett’s full guard. Jorgensen landed some elbows and punches from the top and went to pass, but Pickett was able to get back to his feet and defend a guillotine attempt. Pickett went for a takedown of his own as the round ended. Another great round. FightLine.com scores the round 10-9 for Jorgensen.
Round 3: Both men touched gloves to start the round. Pickett landed some short punches. Pickett connected with a hard jab. Jorgensen scored another takedown and landed more short elbows from the top. Jorgensen stayed busy on top, while Pickett looked like he was looking for a triangle. Jorgensen defended and both fighters were back to their feet. Both men traded punches and Jorgensen scored another takedown. Pickett went for another triangle, but Jorgensen was able to avoid it. Jorgensen got side control and landed knees to Pickett’s back. Pickett tried to get back to his feet, but Jorgensen was able to take Pickett to the ground. Pickett was able to reverse and drop a couple of punches from the top as the round ended. Another fantastic round, a definite ‘Fight of the Night’ candidate. FightLine.com scores the round 10-9 for Jorgensen.
Scott Jorgensen defeated Brad Pickett via unanimous decision (30-27 across the board).
After the fight, Jorgensen said that he wasn’t surprised that the fight went the distance. Jorgensen said he’s deserving of a title shot and will be watching the main event closely to see whom he’ll face next.
