Whenever you’re the most popular kid on campus, you are bound to attract your fair share of haters. If you’re UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva and have steamrolled your previous 12 victims, there will come a point when fans will simply watch you in hopes that you will finally lose.
Although MMA enthusiasts currently maintain a love-hate relationship with the sport’s deadliest marksman, love him when he decides to share his scintillating skills and hate when he doesn’t, Silva claims his bosses have already hopped off his bandwagon and are hoping for his reign to end.
“There’s always bother, right? Even more so with me being a Brazilian,” Silva told UOL (translated by FightersOnly) of his torrid winning streak. “I’m happy in the UFC, but this sequence of wins bothers them because the promoters think the fights end up losing their intrigue and that people now want to see Anderson Silva lose.
“But it’s normal, just business.”
Silva will resume his duties tomorrow night at UFC 117 against Chael Sonnen.
