TMZ.com has released a video showing former UFC lightweight fighter Roger Huerta engaging in a street fight in Austin, Texas with a man who had just sucker punched a female club-goer in the back of the head, leaving her dazed and laying on the ground.
The video depicts Huerta confronting the woman’s attacker and then becoming obscured behind a mass of people. Moments later the woman’s attacker is shown bloodied and seemingly unconscious on the ground.
Police sirens are audible in the video but the Austin City Police Department informed TMZ that, although officers did arrive on the scene, no arrests have yet been made and no charges yet filed.
Huerta’s manager also spoke with TMZ and indicated that making such an attack in response to a woman being accosted in such a manner is certainly not out of character for Huerta.
“I have not spoken to Roger yet about this incident, but I can say that it’s in his nature to be very protective of women.”
Huerta’s former boss, UFC President Dana White, was also reached for comment and supported the 27-year old fighter’s choice to defend the woman.
“In no way do I condone street fighting, but when a guy puts his hands on a woman he deserves to be knocked the f*ck out,” said White. “Good for Roger.”
