Demian Maia Gets New Opponent

Demian Maia has just confirmed he will face Mario Miranda at “UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn II” inside TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, as the game of middleweight musical chairs continues.

“News…Ready for UFC 118, on aug 28, against Mario Miranda!,” Maia Tweeted just moments ago.

Maia was scheduled to headline “UFC Fight Night 22” opposite Alan Belcher on September 15th, however Belcher was forced to withdraw from the scrap last weekend due to a detached retina.

The critical 185-pound battle between Nate Marquardt and Rousimar Palhares was instantly removed from UFC 118 and promoted to the freebie Spike TV broadcast.

In his last outing, Maia was the co-star to Anderson Silva’s antics at UFC 112 in April. Although Maia was willing to engage, the champ spent the better part of the final rounds circling the Octagon with no action.

Miranda owns an impressive 10-1 record and has ended half of his wins via some form of knockout. He earned an impressive 2ndRound win over veteran David Loiseau at UFC 115 in his last outing.
