Jon Jones continued to prove that the hype is real as the 23 year old prodigy needed only 1:52 to defeat Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC On Versus 2 tonight, whom he considered his toughest challenge to date.
“I trained the hardest I could possibly train,” Jones stated after the bout. “I knew Vladimir would be the toughest test, and I just trained my butt off and things went really well.”
While the sky’s the limit for Jones, he left his next opponent squarely in the hands of the UFC and matchmaker Joe Silva.
“My goal is to become one of the best in the world, if not the best in my weight class. Whoever the UFC decides to give me, I’ll be ready for it,” Jones said. “I just hope that Joe Silva and Dana [White] kick it up with me and give some really, really tough guys.”
