Less than a month after slamming Dave Branch into unconsciousness at UFC 116, Gerald Harris has agreed to face Alessio Sakara at “UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn II” on August 28th.
MMAjunkie.com confirmed with sources close to the situation that “Hurricane” has agreed to replace the injured Jorge Rivera to meet the Italian inside the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
Harris owns an impressive 17-2 professional record and is quickly making a name for himself inside the Octagon … literally. This bout marks Harris’ fourth scrap in 2010. Not only is he perfect through his last 10 scraps, he’s also pocketed two explosive Fight Night bonuses in three UFC outings.
Although Sakara holds a respectable 15-7 record, the veteran has posted a mundane 6-4 mark for the world’s premier mixed martial arts show. However, he is currently riding a four-fight winning streak and was last seen putting James Irivin down at “UFC on Versus 1” this past March.
The Rivera/Sakara scrap was slated to air live on Spike TV, however it is unknown whether the Harris/Sakara bout will still figure as a “UFC Prelims” contest.
