Urijah Faber Out With Knee Injury, No Replacement For Mizugaki At WEC 50

As we reported yesterday, former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber has announced he will be forced out of his WEC bantamweight debut against Takeya Mizugaki at WEC 50: Cruz vs. Benavidez 2.

“Been quit the last few days, i was injured in pract on Mon. Just got results Im Out on Aug 18th. Not 2 happy chattin w @arielhelwani now.” Faber wrote yesterday.

“The California Kid” was unable to elaborate on his injury in his Tweet, however told that a knee injury was to blame for his departure.

“”Somebody was going to take me down during training. They swept me and I heard a loud pop. They said it would be six weeks before I could train again, but it may heal even faster,” Faber stated.

According to a report on, a replacement will not be found for Mizugaki.

WEC 50: Cruz vs. Benavidez 2 will take place on August 18, 2010 at The Pearl at The Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event will be headlined by a bantamweight title match between champion Dominick Cruz and challenger Joseph Benavidez.
