Today, Dana White confirmed to MMAFighting.com that UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar’s next title defense will be against Cain Velasquez at the yet-to-be officially announced UFC 121.
The bout was originally rumored to be taking place on September 25th at UFC 119. Apparently both Lesnar and his most recent opponent Shane Carwin, who battled it out last Saturday at UFC 116 for the heavyweight strap, were asked before that fight if the winner would be willing to face Velasquez at UFC 119. The rescheduling of the bout, if you could call it that, may be due to the fact that Lesnar is due to have another child in a week.
“I’m expecting a baby in two weeks,” Lesnar informed media at the UFC 116 post-fight press conference. “My wife’s been a trooper. She’s been pregnant for 18 months these past two years.”
UFC 121 is slated for October 23, 2010 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
