According to multiple reports, former bantamweight king Miguel Torres will look to end his two-fight skid on September 30th when he meets Charlie Valencia at WEC 51.
The bout was confirmed Friday afternoon by MMAWeekly.com.
Although Torres owns a disgusting 37-3 professional record, he’s determined to climb back up the division he once dominated to recapture his crown. He lost his title to Brian Bowles in 2009 and parlayed that into a submission loss to Joseph Benavidez at WEC 47.
Although Torres desperately needs a win, WEC brass didn’t do the owner of MMA’s baddest mullet any favors by pitting him against Valencia.
Valencia holds a respectable 12-5 mark and is currently enjoying a three-fight win streak. He’s been efficiently making his way up the bantamweight totem pole and a W over the division’s former champ should certainly solidify his resume.
WEC 51 is expected to take place inside the 1ST Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.
