According to early “estimates,” Showtime experienced a 56 percent ratings increase for this past Saturday’s Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum broadcast.
The preliminary numbers put Showtime’s viewership at around 500,000 viewers compared to the 308,000 who watched the network’s Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery event this in May.
MMAJunkie reports that Showtime’s higher-ups are pleased with the numbers that Scott Coker and Co. were able to pull in. It currently ranks as the third highest rated Strikeforce event in terms of viewership for the premium cable channel.
With such a dramatic increase in viewers, fans were either extremely anxious to witness Fedor Emelianenko take the cage in his highly anticipated return, or they knew there was a serious possibility of the Russian finally losing. Let’s assume it’s the latter of the two.
