The Gambling Gods have spoken and they profess Fedor Emelianenko is a 6-to-1 favorite to extend his winning streak to an unprecedented 28 when he meets Fabricio Werdum this Saturday inside the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.
While most would agree Werdum shouldn’t provide much resistance for the Russian, -650 is still a little rich for our blood. You’d get much better bang for your buck by taking Werdum as a 5-to-1 underdog, but that would be just like burning money.
In his Strikeforce debut this last November, the former PrideFC champion posted a vicious second round knockout of then-undefeated Brett Rogers. The victory pushed Emelianenko’s record to an unprecedented 31-1.
Werdum, who was released by the UFC last year after posting a mundane 2-2 Octagon record, boasts a respectable 13-4-1 overall mark and is perfect in his two scraps for Strikeforce. He was last seen taking a hard-fought unanimous decision over Antonio “Big Foot” Silva at the same “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers” show.
Showtime will be airing “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Werdum” this Saturday at 10PM ET/PT.
Here are the current betting odds for the card from SportsBetting.com.:
Cung Le -300
Scott Smith +220
Cristiane Cyborg Santos -1600
Jan Finney +800
Fabricio Werdum +450
