WEC 49 Medical Suspensions, through an e-mail received from Executive Director of the Edmonton Combat Sports Commission Pat Reid, has released the medical suspensions list from this past weekend’s WEC 49 event which was held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The ECSC mandates that all fighters who compete must at least incur a five day medical suspension although all the fighters who competed at WEC 49 were handed down at least seven day suspensions.

Earning seven day suspensions for their efforts were Karen Darabedyan, Will Kerr, Josh Grispi and Eric Koch.

Taking home fourteen day suspensions were Renan Barao, Rafael Rebello, Chris Cariaso, Raphael Assuncao, Bendy Casismir, Waggney Fabiano, Frank Gomez, Eddie Wineland and Chris Horodecki.

Twenty-one day suspensions were given out to Anthony Leone, Daniel Downes and LC Davis.

Yves Jabouin, Mark Hominick, Will Campuzano and Diego Nunes all took home thirty day suspensions.

Main eventers Jamie Varner and Kamal Shalorus both were given indefinite suspensions due to the numerous injuries they both sustained in their three-round battle. Reid spoke with about their suspensions.

“With Shalorus and Varner dispatched in ambulances to the hospital for x-rays for suspected broken hands, feet and ribs, their medical suspensions are listed as indefinite – until they receive medical clearance before their next fights,” said Reid. “These guys took quite a beating. Varner’s ribs looked in bad shape.”
