The main event was a lot more competitive in the striking than many would’ve thought. Kamal Shalorus used a combination of leg kicks and big punches to try and knockout the former champion.
Varner stuck to his gameplan of fluid boxing as he picked apart Shalorus when he was able to keep his distance but he ate three low blows from Shalorus that take away some momentum every time.
Referee Josh Rosenthal took a point away from Shalorus for his second low blow in the 2ndRound.
Surprisingly, Shalorus never attempted any takedowns until the middle of the 3rdRound as he stayed in Varner’s world.
Controversy ensued after the fight, as the judge’s scored the bout a draw.
Jamie Varner Fought Kamal Shalorus to a Draw (27-29, 29-27, 28-28)
