Chris Leben vs. Aaron Simpson
Round 1: Simpson landed a nice shot early. Simpson scored a takedown and got side control. Leben got back to his feet, but Simpson controlled Leben with a front face lock. Leben was able to scramble out and landed some body shots while Simpson clinched with Leben against the cage. Simpson attempted another takedown, but Leben was able to defend. They went back to the center of the cage and exchanged blows before Simpson tied Leben up against the cage. Simpson was able to score a big takedown. Leben got back to his feet and landed a nice left hook. They traded blows, with Simpson landed several right hands. Simpson landed a couple of knees and attempted another takedown, but Leben was able to avoid it as the round came to an end. FightLine.com scores the round 10-9 for Simpson.
Round 2: Simpson landed a nice combination early. They exchanged, and Simpson tied Leben up against the cage. Leben broke free and the traded blows. Leben landed some hard shots that rocked Simpson and Simpson tied Leben up against the cage again. Leben broke free, and both fighters are back in the center of the cage. Leben started teeing off again, but Simpson tied Leben up and moved out of the way. Leben started picking away at Simpson. Leben tagged Simpson with a big shot and then followed up with a flurry of punches. Simpson managed to get back to his feet and Leben landed another big shot which sent Simpson across the cage and the referee called it off. Simpson was surprised by the stoppage.
Chris Leben defeated Aaron Simpson via TKO (strikes) at 4:17 of Round 2.
After the bout, Leben dedicated the win to Ed Herman. Leben noted that Simpson was a better wrestler, so he kept standing and waited for Simpson to tire out since he observed that Simpson always was explosive for the first two minutes.
