When a fight between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans seemed likely last December, most sports betting outlets had Jackson as a notable favorite. A lot has changed in five months, as the two enter Saturday night’s main event clash at UFC 114 with Evans as a slight favorite according to SportsBetting.com.
The reason for the change could lie in Jackson’s conditioning. He was at UFC 110 in February overweight and walking around smoking a cigarette. Jackson’s strength and conditioning coach, Mike Dolce, revealed during last night’s final installment of UFC Primetime that Jackson’s weight ballooned up to 251 pounds before his training camp for this fight started.
“Day 1 of this camp, Quinton was 251 pounds,” said Dolce. “Today he is 221 ripped pounds.”
During the special, it was noted that Rampage was now thirty pounds lighter and in the best shape of his career. It remains to be seen if Jackson has gone from overweight to “the best shape of his career” in just three months.
UFC 114 takes place this Saturday, May 29th inside the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. As always, FightLine.com will be providing live coverage of the event.
