It is being reported Mark Munoz will look to resume him climb up the middleweight ladder when he meets former top contender Yushin Okami at UFC on Versus 2.
MMAWeekly.com confirmed the 185-pound scrap with sources close to the situation on Wednesday afternoon.
Munoz owns a dominant 8-1 professional record and will be riding a three-fight winning streak into the Energy Solutions Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Filipino posted a dramatic 2ndRound come-from-behind TKO victory over former “The Ultimate Fighter” winner Kendall Grove at UFC 112 last month.
At 24-5, Okami owns one of the most impressive resumes in the middleweight division. The Japanese fighter has been on the cusp of title contention a couple of times, however fell short in a unanimous decision loss to Rich Franklin in 2007, then again to Chael Sonnen at UFC 104.
