Jorge Rivera has agreed to fight Alessio Sakara, only 40 miles away from his hometown of Milford, Mass., at UFC 118 on August 28th. The report comes just days after Sakara had pulled out of a fight with Nate Marquardt at UFC 116 due to the passing of his father.
MMAJunkie was able to confirm the report with sources close to the UFC, as the promotion continues to lineup its first event in Massachusetts.
UFC 118 is expected to take place at the TD Garden – the home of the Boston Celtics – and is rumored to be headlined by the lightweight title rematch between champion Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn.
Rivera is riding some momentum after winning his last three inside the Octagon, including a dominating victory over the Nate Quarry at UFC Fight Night 21.
Sakara is also riding a three-fight win streak and will look to continue his climb up the 185-pound ladder.
