World Extreme Cagefighting General Manager Reed Harris announced today that the organization has scheduled their first ever event in Canada at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Sunday, June 20.
“We are really excited to bring WEC to Canada for the first time on June 20,” WEC General Manager Reed Harris said. “We’ve learned that Canada is home to some of the most passionate mixed martial arts fans in the world. With that said, we can’t wait to get to Edmonton and put the best lighter weight fighters in the world on display.”
Former lightweight world champion Jamie Varner begins his quest back to the top of the division when he takes on the heavy-handed Kamal Shalorus in the night’s main event, while rising featherweight Josh Grispi battles LC Davis in a fight that will push the winner one step closer to a world title shot.
Canadian teammates Chris Horodecki and Mark Hominick are also confirmed for the card. Horodecki will take on Taekwondo expert Ed Ratcliff while Hominick will battle Yves Jabouin in a featherweight bout.
