Had Vitor Belfort not have been forced out of his UFC 112 middleweight title fight with Anderson Silva due to a shoulder injury, we may have left the event this past weekend talking about a completely different storyline.
And as Silva waits for an opponent that can truly challenge him, Belfort’s name is often brought up in the discussion. If that’s the route Dana White and the UFC choose to take, Vitor says he will be ready to take that fight sooner rather than later.
“If I didn’t get this injury fixed, my doctor said it could affect me for the rest of my life,” Belfort stated in a recent interview. “I’m just rehabbing right now. I can’t fight yet, but soon enough. We’ll just take our time, I’m not gonna stop training. I have to have a strong mentality. I’ll be back soon stronger than ever. I’m gonna get my legacy back.”
In search of restoring his legacy as one of the sport’s great fighters, a bout, and more importantly a win, over Anderson Silva would absolutely do the trick.
