Staph Infection Lands Kenny Florian In Hospital

UFC lightweight Kenny Florian has admitted himself into the hospital for a staph infection in his knee.

“A staph infection in your knee & being in a 3rd world country = not good,” Florian Tweeted on April 9th. “I’m on antibiotics to help this staph infection in my knee go away. I had bursitis before the Gomi fight & now it’s septic. Not fun. :(

Florian, who just returned home from a well-deserved Caribbean vacation following his destruction of Japanese sensation Takanori Gomi at “UFC Fight Night 21 last month, took himself to a Boston-area hospital Monday afternoon for “precautionary” reasons.

“Being admitted to the hospital. Not good. Minor surgery & IV antibiotics on the way. Damn!!,” Florian Tweeted.

Ken-Flo’s manager, Ron Weinberg, told that there’s no timetable for his return, however he will stay in the hospital overnight.

“It’s just an unfortunate thing that happened, and he’ll be treated,” Weinberg today told “He’ll be in the hospital as long as it takes to evaluate everything and make sure he’s good.

“He said it was very, very painful like someone had a knife inside [his] bone.”
