Georges St. Pierre is shown again; Joe Rogan says that they will fight if Silva wins.

Round 1: Silva looking very relaxed, feeling Maia out. Silva kicks Maia to the knee. Silva spins Maia back with a leg kick. Silva dancing around. He lands a spinning back kick. Silva putting his hands on the ground in front of Maia. Silva lands a right and Maia slips. Silva is opening up, he lands some good leg kicks. Silva is moving wildly and lands a lunging punch. Maia tries to pull guard but Silva isn’t having it. Silva knocks him down with a flying knee. Silva is toying with Maia. scores the round 10-8 for Silva.

Round 2: Silva keeping his hands low and mocks Maia for trying to hit him. Silva is making another statement in this fight. He knocks Maia down with a leg kick. Silva using Capoeira to get inside and land kicks and punches. Silva stuffs a takedown and kicks Maia in the arm. Maia misses on another couple of takedowns. Silva taunting Maia in the middle of the ring. Silva berating Maia in the ring. Silva picking Maia apart. scores the round 10-8 for Silva.

Round 3: Maia throws a right hand. Silva landing with kicks. The action is slowing a bit. Silva misses with a kick and then pours it on Maia. Maia misses with a takedown. Maia is sticking in there and trying to land punches, Silva just isn’t having it. Maia’s face is busted up. Silva shrugs off another takedown. scores the round 10-9 for Silva.

Round 4: There are shades of the Thales Leites fight appearing now, Silva can finish this but he isn’t. Maia misses with a couple of big punches. Silva is getting the better of the exchanges. The crowd chants Maia’s name. Now they’ve switched to a chant of “GSP”. Silva is backing away from Maia. scores the round 10-9 for Silva.

Round 5: Silva is going to draw a lot of criticism if he doesn’t finish Maia. Maia’s left eye is swollen shut. Maia tries for a takedown. Maia catches Silva with some punches. Maia is swinging big and pushing forward. Silva lands a spinning back kick. Maia gets ahold of Silva’s leg and he pushes him against the cage. Silva gets out of it. Silva is not looking to engage. Maia throws his hands up. The referee stops the fight and warns Silva that if he doesn’t engage he’s going to dock him a point. Maia is pushing forward as the round ends. scores the round 10-9 for Maia.

Anderson Silva defeated Demian Maia via unanimous decision to retain the UFC middleweight title.

Silva apologizes for his performance and says that it won’t happen again; he says that he lacked humility.
