Mackens Semerzier Forced Out Of WEC 48 Bout Due To Injury

WEC featherweight Mackens “Da Menace” Semerzier (5-1) announced through his Facebook Fan Page that he has suffered an injury in his training camp that has forced him out of his scheduled bout with Anthony “Cheesesteak” Morrison (15-8) at “WEC 48: Aldo Vs. Faber”.

Semerzier wrote: “This is not the first time I have been hurt durining[sic] training camp. But it’s the first time it’s been bad enough that I couldn’t train at all. I will not be fighting at WEC48 due to injury. Sorry ppl but “it’s on to the next one”. I have a new appreciation for my health. I’ll be better soon and hopefuly looking forward to WEC51. Thnx for all the love and support.”

Semerzier scored what Sherdog calls “The Upset of the Year” for 2009 in his WEC debut by submitting Jiu-jitsu ace Wagnney Fabiano in the first round of their bout. Semerzier lost his most recent fight, against Deividas Taurosevicius, via unanimous decision.

MMAJunkie is reporting that Chad Mendes (6-0) will be replacing Semerzier against Morrison.
