All Fighters Tests Clean For UFC 111

The New Jersey State Athletic Control Board has confirmed that all 20 fighters who competed at “UFC 111: St-Pierre vs. Hardy” on April 27th have produced clean drug tests.

Each competitor was asked to submit a urine test, while some fighters were randomly selected to give a blood test three weeks prior to the event. had verified through the NJSACB that once the fighter was notified they would be required to submit blood, they had 48 hours to find an “approved” facility to submit their sample.

The NJSACB was a lot more strict with their screening procedures than other Commissions the UFC has worked with in the past. Once at the facility, each fighter had to take a picture with their sample(s) to verify its authenticity.

At the same time, most Commissions won’t test all the fighters on an MMA card. They usually just examine the main event fighters and the victorious undercard competitors.

Thanks to New Jersey’s pre-fight requirements, they were able to locate an abnormality in Thiago Alves’ brain just days before showtime. A revelation that possibly saved the Brazilian’s life.
