Despite having three title fights scheduled for Strikeforce: Nashville on April 17th, it has been rumored that the organization was looking to add a fourth fight to the card featuring either Herschel Walker or Bobby Lashley.
Sherdog.com confirmed earlier this month that Walker would not be fighting on the card, but does plan on fighting again. In an exclusive interview with Bobby Lashley that will be published tomorrow, Lashley told Raj Giri of FightLine.com that he has been approached to fight on the April 17th card, but has yet to hear back from the organization.
“I don’t know,” Lashley told FightLine.com when asked about when his next fight would take place. “There was one call for possibly the 17th, and then I haven’t heard anything back. So I’m just kinda on standby right now.”
Lashley noted that if he were offered a fight, he would accept it.
“The only thing I ever got was a note that said, ‘How about April 17th’ and that was it,” said Lashley. “I responded back ‘Yes’, and that was a couple of weeks ago. I haven’t heard nothing else… no opponents or anything.”
Strikeforce: Nashville takes place on April 17, 2010 from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The event is headlined by Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields facing Dan Henderson, while light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi defends against Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal and lightweight champ Gilbert Melendez defends against Shinya Aoki. The event will air live on CBS.
Be sure to check back tomorrow for our entire interview with Lashley, where he talks about his time with the WWE and TNA Wrestling, his thoughts on Fedor Emelianenko, Brock Lesnar, Alistair Overeem, who would win a Lesnar-Fedor matchup and much more.
