MMAJunkie.com is reporting that the Nevada State Athletic Commission has approved the UFC’s recently submitted application to hold an event on May 29th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Expected to be UFC 114, the fight card will coincide with the UFC’s second-annual Fan Expo. The first UFC Fan Expo was held in conjunction with UFC 100 and while it was expected that the Fan Expo and UFC 114 would be held at the same venue (the Fan Expo is taking place at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino) like last year, the fans shouldn’t be too upset because the two venues are only a short distance from each other on the Las Vegas strip.
The Fan Expo will take place on May 28th and 29th and, if it is anything like last year’s Expo, will hold fighter autograph/picture sessions, UFC related news releases (last year the cast of TUF 10 was announced), training sessions, and other special events.
UFC 114 is expected to host a light-heavyweight fight between Forrest Griffin and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira as well as the long-awaited grudge match between Rashad Evans and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
