Despite a solid night of mixed martial arts action, the television ratings for Saturday’s “WEC 47: Bowles vs. Cruz” event was the second-worst the company has experienced in nearly two years.
According to MMAJunkie.com, the Versus broadcast scored a meager 0.46 household rating and attracted only 373,000 viewers.
The ratings are down a drastic 42% from their prior show, WEC 46, which took place in January and featured WEC poster boy Urijah Faber and the highly anticipated lightweight title unification bout between Benson Henderson and Jamie Varner.
That show garnered 640,000 viewers.
In the night’s main event, Dominick Cruz upset bantamweight champion Brian Bowles in his first title defense as the American Top Team-trained fighter couldn’t continue after the second round due to a broken right hand.
